Those Who Provide by Ja D Hawkins is an odd little fantasy short story where the main characters are goblins Nala is the narrator and hero of the story Nala is a younger goblin about to undergo his final initiation into the company of Those Who Provide Those Who Provide consist of the goblins responsible for securing meat to feed the entire clan His final initiation has him waiting at the tunnel entrance while other goblins sneak into a herd of swine unseen by the swineherds and cause a minor stampede toward a section of fence they had previously cut The stampeding swine head toward Nala and his job is to direct them into a side tunnel where they will be trapped and subseuently butchered for consumption Nala performs his duties almost flawlessly and is accepted into the companyBut on the next excursion things don't go uite as planned and Nala finds himself alone in the middle of the swine's pasture with swineherds all around him How will he escape WILL he escape Or will the rest of the goblins leave him to perishThis was a rather cute story I'd recommend you get a copy and read it or you know you'll never be able to sleep tonight for worrying about poor Nala's plight This story contains no profanity or sex or anything else that might make it unsuitable for young children On the contrary I believe even the very young pre readers would enjoy this as a bed time story for their parents to read to them What could you ask for In many ways this is almost like a bed time story a clever parent would make up on the spot when a real book wasn't available So go ahead and get a copy and just see if your kids don't enjoy it
